Abstract Image analysis is used to study the effect of sintering atmosphere and sintering times on the pores morphology of Astaloy CrM. The pores morphology was described by means of some parameters, Circular Diameter (DC)- which shows the diameter of equivalent circle for comparing the pore size, FElongation and FShape- which have different geometrical meanings. The results have been interpret...

the role of polymeric additives such as pvp and peg is studied with respect to the morphology of pes porous layer as a sublayer of nanofiltration composite membranes based on pes/pa. results show that by phase inversionprocess of quaternary systems comprised of four components of polymer/solvent/non-solvent/additive and the diffusion of intertwined polymers some changes occur in membrane morpho...

In the current work, the effect of surface morphology on light emission property and absorption behavior of quasi-columnar macro-porous silicon (PS) was investigated. PS structures with different morphology were synthesized using photo-electrochemical etching method by applying different etching current densities. SEM micrographs showed that empty macro-pores size and porosity of PS layers were...

Tissues in the body are hierarchically structured composite materials with tissue-specific properties. Urea self-assembles via hydrogen bonding interactions into crystalline supracolloidal assemblies that can be used to impart macroscopic pores to polymer-based tissue scaffolds. In this communication, we explain the solvent interactions governing the solubility of urea and thereby the scope of ...

Experiments were conducted to compare the annealing of nano-porous aluminum oxide membranes by 2.45 GHz microwave radiation and by conventional (resistive element) furnace heating. The starting material was Al2O3 membranes that were 60 microm thick, 13 mm in diameter, and containing pores of approximately 200 nm diameter. Changes in the porosity and morphology were recorded from digital process...

In this study, a comparison between neat poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) membrane and composite (PVDF-Nanoclay and PVDF-PVP-Nanoclay) membranes is presented. All membranes were synthesized by the phase inversion process, using 18% PVDF, n-methylpyrrolidone as solvent and water as the non-solvent. Demineralized water cross-flow permeation tests were conducted to evaluate the membranes performan...

In oredr to reduce costs and save time for the membrane manufacturing process, it is necessary to improve the quality of membranes by modeling usage. In this study, Flory Huggins model was used to predict quaternary-system containing polyether sulfone, N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone, water and used alkanes as an additive. Due to the solubility parameters and molar alkane volumes, the interaction parame...

Anodic Aluminium Oxide (AAO) membranes were fabricated using a modified 2 step anodization process. The effect of varying anodization voltage, time and temperature of electrolyte on the morphology of the pores was studied. AFM measurements showed that the anodized samples contain ordered pores of 32 nm in diameter and were 40nm apart.

Abstract: In this study, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were grown directly in the pores of micro porous pyrex membranesand consequently ceramic membranes with very fine pores and high porosity were achieved. Our experiment was donein two stages. Initially cobalt powder with different percent was homogeneously mixed with pyrex powder. In order toproduce row membranes, each of these mixtures were compa...
